Betta C. Edu (born October 27, 1986) is a Nigerian politician and national women leader of All Progressive Congress. She was Cross River State Commissioner for Health until her resignation in 2022. She was also National Chairman of the Nigeria Health Commissioners Forum. Background and education: Betta hails from Abi Local government area in Cross River State. She completed her secondary education in 2001 at the Federal Government Girls College, Calabar and obtained her first degree in medicine and surgery from the University of Calabar in 2009. No fewer than 5,000 vulnerable, very poor persons and even People With Disabilities, PWDs in Cross River state Monday (Christmas day) received N20,000 grant each from from the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Thanked President Tinubu during the flag off of the grants for poor and vulnerable groups in Cross River state. Set To Sign Agreement On Donor Development Cooperation for Poverty Eradication With Nigeria to set up an office in Abuja. The Turkish government has expressed its readiness to partner with Nigeria's Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation in the areas of social protection and emergency responses. FG to create trust fund for humanitarian, emergency response

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Betta Edu, has said that the federal government will create a trust fund for humanitarian and emergency response across Nigeria. Edu, who was on Monday, sworn in by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu said this during an interview with ARISE NEWS on Wednesday disclosed that there will be partnerships with the private sector for poverty alleviation. According to her, the government will not be the sole driver, hence President Tinubu will be using funds saved from the removal of payment on fuel subsidy.
